I’m almost finished with my Digital Marketing course on Coursera, and while I’ve learned a ton about audience research, ad targeting, analytics, and brand positioning… the most valuable lesson has been realizing how much my personal story shapes the way I market my own businesses.
For me, marketing isn’t just about selling. It’s about telling stories people can connect to.
Stories about starting small.
Stories about building trust.
Stories about showing up — even when life gets messy.
My private ventures — from massage therapy to event-based wellness experiences — are fueled by lived experience. I know what it’s like to work with a small budget, to balance multiple roles, and to want every dollar I spend on ads to actually matter.
That means my marketing strategy isn’t just pulled from a textbook. It’s filtered through:
Empathy for my audience’s pain points
Authenticity in every message I share
Consistency even when growth feels slow
As I wrap up this course, I’m not just leaving with a certificate — I’m leaving with tools, confidence, and a stronger connection between who I am and how I market.
Because in my business, the brand isn’t just the logo or the offer… it’s me.
